GCSE ICT Companion 04 Shortcut


You can simplify the loading of the GCSE ICT Companion 04 by making a bookmark for it on your desktop. These instructions explain how to do this.

Follow these steps to create an icon for the ICT Companion on the desktop :

1. 

Move the mouse pointer over an area of the desktop where there are no icons.

2. Click with the right hand mouse button.
3. Select the New option and choose the Shortcut option from the pop-up menu.
4. Click on the Browse button.
5. Change the setting of the Files of Type box so that it says All Files.
6. Locate the file index.asp/index.htm/aindex.htm on your hard disk drive. If you chose to install the ICT Companion to the root folder of the C drive then you can do this by following these steps:
  • Go to the Look In box. If the C drive is not selected then choose it from the list. The C drive icon looks similar to this but may have some extra words by it :

  • Double-click on the ict4 icon :

  • Double-click on the file index.asp/index.htm/aindex.htm icon. You may need to scroll the list to the left to see this.
  • Click on the Open button.
  • The browser window will close and you will be returned to to the Create Shortcut window. The pathname of the ICT Companion will appear in the Command Line box.

If you have installed the ICT Companion to a different folder then locate the index.asp/index.htm/aindex.htm file from that location.

7. Click on the Next button.
8. Enter a name for the shortcut that will appear under the icon. e.g. "GCSE ICT Companion 04"
9. Click on the Finish button.
10. An icon for the ICT Companion will now appear on your desktop.

You can now load the ICT Companion by simply double-clicking on the icon on the desktop.
